· The Basic Charge out rate of Laing & Co is £180.00 per hour. Fixed Fees agreed if appropriate.

 

· Costs that are additional to the Basic Charge are: VAT and Disbursements.

 

· VAT is charged at the prevailing rate.

 

· Disbursements are additional costs incurred at the specific request of the Client.

 

· Disbursements include: photocopying, items sent by Special Delivery and Travel Expenses.

 

· Travel Expenses will always be agreed in advance with the Client. Laing & Co will always seek ways to minimise the travel costs, for example, by arranging to see more than one Client in the same vicinity on the same day in order that travel costs can be shared fairly between Clients.

 

· The time spent travelling (as opposed to the actual travel costs of flights, taxis, petrol expenses or train fare) will usually be charged at 50% of time incurred unless an alternative formula is agreed with the Client in advance.

 

· It is the consistent policy of Laing & Co to keep costs to a minimum. To that end agreement is usually sought with Clients to agree either a Fixed Fee or a Maximum Fee. If no such agreement is made, the Client  will be Invoiced on a per hour basis.

 

· No Invoice will be issued by Laing & Co unless the Client is aware that an Invoice will be issued.

 

· Pre-publication legal reports for a manuscript in the region of 80—100,000 words is typically in the region of £1,500.00, and subsequent follow-up issues charged at £180.00 per hour (figures ex-vat).
